COYA VINEYARD
D.O. CACHAPOAL ANDES
Coya vineyard is a fundamental terroir for our Locura 1 Chardonnay. We have named it Madness because in Chile up till now, nobody has thought of associating the Chardonnay variety with the cold and height of the Andes Mountain range. This vineyard, of 19 years of age, corresponds to the highest plantation of Chardonnay in Chile (950 meters above sea level) being located inside the Andes Mountain range.
The Climate corresponds to mountain climate, with strong snowfalls and cold weather, due to the presence of glaciers and snow. The successful natural acidity order is of 4. 5 grams per H2SO4 liter and a 3.2 pH, which is unique in Chile for this variety.
The Soils for this wine have been chosen very carefully, looking for deep radicular systems, with good drainage and big water reservation to avoid frequent risks. The presence of rocks in the soil is abundant, with a degree of demineralization of the angular rock. It is the colluvial, volcanic soil, deposited on carbonate gravels of the Cachapoal river, which gives minerality to this wine.
