PUCALÁN VINEYARD
D.O. ACONCAGUA COSTA
This vineyard of 4 hectares belongs to our associate Albert Cussen. It was one of the first Pinot Noir vineyards designed and planted in Chile by Pedro Parra in 2007, with clean and high quality Dijon clones. The 4 Ha. were designed with a very high density, 1 x 1 (10,000 pl / Ha.) sub divided in 10 small barracks, thinking on how to generate 10 different wines, in vats of 3,000 or 5,000 lts. The clonal material is 777. 115. 828, Gevrey Chambertin Mass selection and Vosne Romanee Mass selection.
The climate present in this area is very cold, coastal, with a distance of 7 kms. straight line to sea. The rainfall is low to average, raining mainly in winter and autumn and being able to reach 600 mm. per year. This vineyard is one of the few vineyards located in the Aconcagua Coast.
The soils of the vineyard are complex, with a very ancient parental material, of the Paleozoic area (over 350 million years). This deposit corresponds to marine sand, which sedimented and turned into hard rock. These very little fertile soils are located in low to average size hills.
